After breakfast, we will drive towards the town of Bhaderwah, which is often termed as “Chota Kashmir” means another / small Kashmir. Bhaderwah is a valley of bewitching natural beauty and panoramic vistas which have earned it the epithet of “Chota Kashmir”. It offers to the tourist a variety of beautiful landscapes, colorful local fairs, joyous festival moods and a unique mosaic of culture. Center to beauty of this saucer shaped valley are River Neeru, the Deodar and Kail Forests. A full majestic view of the sylvan valley with snow – capped background makes visitors fall in love with Bhaderwah. We will visit town of Doda en-route and then will proceed to the beautiful town of Bhaderwah. Rest of the day at leisure and in the evening a walk to the Local Bazaars. Stay overnight in Bhaderwah.
Begin the day with the prayer offering at Gupt Ganga - Temple Dedicated to Lord Shiva. Then we will drive towards one of the most beautiful valleys on earth; The Chinta Valley, situated at a height of 6,500 ft. above sea level. It is covered with thick coniferous forests on all sides and Chinta Nallah flowing through it. A grassy meadow called Bagan on one side of the village is favoured by picnickers. Jai Valley is 10 Kms from Chinta is the picturesque longitudinal valley of Jai at a height of 7000 Ft. located 32 Kms from Bhaderwah. It is an extremely beautiful region spread over 6 Kms. In the early evening, drive back to Bhaderwah and visit Chinoth Temple - dedicated to Goddess Chandi and Vasuki Naag Temple. This is the oldest temple of Bhaderwah which was built in 11th century. Vasuki means in Sanskrit - Snake. According to Hindu mythology, Vasuki used to be the king of serpents who had Naagmani on his forehead. The idol of Lord Vasuki is installed in the temple, which is made from a large stone. There is a provision to do special worship here before Kailash Yatra. 40 KM from Bhaderwah. It is situated at an altitude of 10,500 feet above sea level. It is a picnic spot that enjoys snowfall many times a year. On return to Bhaderwah visit Bhaderwah Fort - also known as Ratangarh Fort is one of the most historical and cultural assets of Bhaderwah. Later proceed to visit Gatha Lake. Being at Sinthan Top is mostly a windy experience where a short stopover is advisable as weather can change anytime. There are several short distance high altitude lakes near the pass like Arshan Lake, Dranyansar, Girsar, Nag-e-Pather, Dilsar, all within 2 to 3 hours walk after which only grass and the white-barked Bhojpatra trees give you company.
Play in the snowfields here, ogle at the views – high mountains, snow at your feet, wooded valleys below. The picturesque view of the Pir Panjal range of Kishtwar district from Sinthan Pass is worth saving on a camera card. The cool winds can compel you to put on warm clothes or drive back quickly.
Sarthal Mata, considered as re-incarnation of Goddess Durga, is the chief deity of Hindus in Kishtwar (Jammu and Kashmir) and adjoining areas. Originally made from the stones by locals under patronage of Raja Agar Dev of Kishtwar, this holy temple was renovated by Maharaja Hari Singh in 1936 from the wood of Dayalwan and Deviyun-van forest.
